As some of you know my close friend Johnia Berry was brutally murdered at her apartment in west Knoxville on December 6, 2004. DNA was found at the scene did not belong to her or her roommate. Her mother is trying to petition new legislation for a DNA registry where people arrested for violent crimes/felonies will have to give a DNA sample. If they're aquitted the sample will be deleted from the registry. Otherwise it stays. The hope is to help law enforcement catch people like Johnia's murderers. If you live in Tennessee please sign this petition online:
http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/TNDNALegislation/
There's a news article about the registry as well as a video at WBIR's website

Over one year later the Knoxville County Sheriff's department has not been able to find a suspect. America's Most Wanted would like to cover the story but they will not unless they have cooperation from the sheriff's department. If you live in Knoxville or are from Knoxville, please sign this petition to help get Johnia's case on America's Most wanted.

http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/AMWSupportTN/

If you have any questions about either of these petitions or about Johnia or her case please feel free to ask. And thank you to everyone that signs these petitions! Her family will greatly appreciate it.

If you happen to know any information about her actual murder, there's a $60,000 reward for information that can be used to convict. FYI.

You can also find out more information at a website her family started for her

These were mostly tests of my equipment. I don't feel like there's a subject in either of them. We'll see what I can do in the future.

I finally bought a transparency scanner. Here's a 4x5" shot I did a few months ago on the top of Roan Mountain.

Ok, so I posted a thing about how to get a free ipod back in october. Well a lot of people were sceptical, some people signed up. I ended up getting an iPod on tuesday. How much did I pay for it? nothing.

How does that work you say? Well you sign up at freeipods.com. You are offered a bunch of different things like a credit card, columbia house membership, BMG, ancestry.com etc. Big name reputable companies. You sign up, get 5 other people to do the same thing (they get to choose the offer they want to complete) and you get an ipod. It's simple. It works. But how can it work? read my post about it back in october. Has a link to a wired.com article about the company and what they do... as well as an explination as to how they can do it.

So if you're interested sign up using this link here.

This was on my doorstep, yay! what's inside?

Here's a little photojournal of my AT experience so far. As far as the trail goes I'm in Bland, Virginia. About 570 miles down (a little over 25% of the way done). If you're wondering why I'm posting it's because I'm at my parents right now. I had to come home for a dentist appointment and thought I'd take the time to share a few of the things I've seen so far with everyone.

I've seen lots of pretty trees

Lots of pics, so they're behind a cutCollapse )
